Why Is Cycling So Important Right Now?

It’s a lot better for your health than public transport is, please practice safe cycling (don’t forget to wear a condom, sorry, wear a helmet! Use your head… Give people some space) If you’ve seen the Tubes & Commuters today you’ll understand the levels of stupidity out there given the guidance, this is a great way to look after yourself and get out and about maintaining your health and your bicycle use is a perfect tool for transport too now if you look after it.

The Air Quality right now if you’ve not already noticed the stars at night has improved a lot, the traffics dropped and so has pollution, although people cramming into spaces and sharing transport doesn’t seem to be a issue for some. It’s a great way to exercise and regain some personal sovereignty whilst enjoying a bit of peaceful space to ride for a change.

GIVE YOUR BIKE A WASH BEFORE & AFTER USE

Please do me a favour if you have the time before you request a repair, please give your bike a really good wash with hot soapy water if that’s all you’ve got but make sure your really do wash it under the seat, along the top-tube both top-side and under-side, clean your bars and tyres and anything you normally touch…

AND THEN LEAVE IT TO AIR DRY WITHOUT TOUCHING IT FOR ME TO COLLECT I WILL BRING IT BACK WHEN YOUR REPAIR IS DONE.

I understand this isn’t possible for everybody, but please take the time to if you can as this is where transmission could occur, as you ride and breath heavily, maybe sneeze or cough, clear your throat, or dribble as you drink… A lot of that hand wiping your face etc, and then you handle the bike a lot too at each end and maybe during parts of your journey. I will also need to touch all the same parts as you when I repair your bicycle.

Precautions as a basic will now include the only use of rubber gloves, so no more mechanics gloves, filthy bikes will receive a compulsory wash, 70% isopropyl alcohol spray may be used to clean contact points more regularly before we touch collections if we cannot see it’s been washed recently.
